Kate and Johnny's Story
Jacob is Kate & Johnny's 1st baby; he was born at home in water.
I was already five & a half months pregnant and under the care of my local NHS midwife led unit when I found out about the Wharfedale Independent Midwifery Practice. Although my local unit was really good I was concerned that I wouldn't necessarily know the midwives who would attend my labour & that if I moved out of a low risk category I'd have to go to hospital.
I'll never forget when I first spoke to Debbie. She said "you can give birth up a tree if that's what you want" and I knew she meant it. From that moment on I knew I had to have Debbie & Judy as my midwives.
Since having my first baby at home in a water pool and suspected breech (although he came head down in the end) I can totally recommend Debbie & Judy - their support, love, knowledge, professionalism and courage are astounding - they were there for me 100%. Even my husband who couldn't understand why I'd want to pay when it was free on the NHS now swears by them and tells everyone he meets to have Independent Midwives!
It was the best gift we've ever given ourselves.
